First Images For Transformers 4 Show New Autobots And Optimus Prime

Michael Bay's Transformers 4 is armed with the job of restarting a franchise left flailing after the lacklustre Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. The fourth instalment is touted to be kickstarting an entirely new trilogy away from the events of the first three films. Bay is taking this seriously, as he has taken to his website to reveal a new design for Optimus Prime. That's not all. Yahoo! Movies have premiered two new images of the rebooted Autobots.

Michael Bay’s Transformers 4 is armed with the job of restarting a franchise left flailing after the lacklustre Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. The fourth instalment is touted to be kickstarting an entirely new trilogy away from the events of the first three films. Bay is taking this seriously, as he has taken to his website to reveal a new design for Optimus Prime. That’s not all. Yahoo! Movies have premiered two new images of the rebooted Autobots.

Optimus Prime’s fresh design is given a first look. Described as “completely upgraded, custom-built Optimus Prime from Western Star (a subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America)” could this mark a return of a more ass kicking Optimus Prime? At CinemaCon Bay announced that a new look for Cybertron would be a huge element of the sequel so expect new images of the Transformers’ home planet soon.

The latest additions to the Autobots are both hyper colourful and damn expensive. The Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse will set you back $2.4 million if you quite liked the look of it. The snot-green C7 Corvette Stingray is a “race-inspired” vehicle which fits into the tiny amount known about the plot. Bay has been tightlipped concerning the events of the film, but the tidbit he has let slip is that it’ll involve “a chase from hell.” Sounds like this sneeze-inspired car could be a leading contender in that chase.

Another non-vehicular inclusion to the cast is comedian T.J. Miller. He’s signed on to play a lifelong friend of Mark Wahlberg’s leading man. A blue-collar mechanic, he’ll be indispensable no doubt when Optimus blows his head gasket. The rest of the eclectic cast include Kelsey Grammer, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor.

Transformers 4 is shooting now at Monument Valley, and will land in theatres on June 27th 2014.
