The Inbetweeners 2 Trailer Promises More Of The Same

I recently discovered the hilarious British comedy series The Inbetweeners on Netflix and spent a few weeks savoring all 18 episodes and the equally side-splitting Inbetweeners Movie. Though a lot of the humor is pretty low-brow, the four dirty-minded teenagers at its center are all terrifically funny - which is why I was thrilled to find out today that The Inbetweeners 2 is on its way.

I recently discovered the hilarious British comedy series The Inbetweeners on Netflix and spent a few weeks savoring all 18 episodes and the equally side-splitting Inbetweeners Movie. Though a lot of the humor is pretty low-brow, the four dirty-minded teenagers at its center are all terrifically funny – which is why I was thrilled to find out today that The Inbetweeners 2 is on its way.

The sequel, which British audiences will see in August, finds actors Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas reprising their roles as Will, Jay, Neil and Simon, who decide to reunite for a road trip in Australia. “You know why they call it Down Under – because that’s where your face spends most of the time!” proclaims Jay, the group’s resident pervert. And just like that, the band is back together, alienating themselves from the continent’s female population and getting into all kinds of ridiculous scrapes along the way. It looks like a new set of love interests has emerged for the four main characters, though strangely Jay seems to be getting the most action out of any of them – which as fans will assure you, is decidedly not the status quo.

Fans of the series will be pleased to see that Belinda Stuart-Wilson is back in what looks like a cameo role as Will’s oft-sexualized mother Polly, while those who saw The Inbetweeners Movie will note that it looks like there’s trouble in paradise for new couple Simon and Lucy (Tamla Kari). In other interesting casting news, Daisy Ridley, who has an unknown role in Star Wars Episode VII, will be playing the object of the gang’s affection, named Alicia.

Emily Berrington, Adrian Chiles, Freddie Stroma and David Field all also have roles in the sequel, which was written and directed by Inbetweeners creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris.

The Inbetweeners 2 will open abroad on August 6th, and it will likely find its way to U.S. theaters or at the very least VOD this fall.
