Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “The Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life/ It’s a tough transition for every one, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again – which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.

Previous comments from writer/director Brad Bird had already told us that Holly Hunter’s matriarch of the Parr family would be taking centre stage this time around, following The Incredibles‘ starring role for Mr. Incredible. It seems that this is due to a new arrangement amongst the family, leading Bob to take care of the kids at home while Helen adopts crime-fighting duties.

We’re also intrigued to hear about this villain with a “a brilliant and dangerous plot.” New casting additions include Catherine Keener and Bob Odenkirk, so the character is likely played by one of them. Whoever this antagonist is, they’ll certainly have a lot of work to do in living up to the memory of Syndrome, the excellent villain from the first movie. Mr. Incredible’s former fanboy was a brilliantly personal nemesis for our heroes and it’ll be interesting to see how this bad guy fares.

Finally, the synopsis teases that Samuel L. Jackson’s Frozone will be back, perhaps playing a larger role. This only makes sense, after he became such a fan favourite thanks to his supporting part in the original film. All together now, everyone: “WHERE IS MY SUPER SUIT?”

You can catch The Incredibles 2 in cinemas on June 15th.
