In a year where we’ll be seeing X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I can still safely say that one of 2014’s most exciting sequels is Gareth Evans’ The Raid 2, the follow-up to his downright jaw-dropping 2011 action film The Raid: Redemption.
As we gear up for the film’s March 28th, 2014 release date, the last bit of promotion is starting to trickle out and this weekend saw the release of a new international poster. It’s not just any international poster though, as this one is rather special. Why, you ask? Well, because our very own Dom Mill has his review quoted right at the top, proudly proclaiming that The Raid 2 is “the greatest action film ever.”
I haven’t seen it myself (though I plan to remedy that next week at SXSW), but I have no trouble believing Dom’s statement. While it may be bold, Evans’ original was hands down one of the genre’s finest efforts and there’s no reason to think that he won’t wow audiences again with the sequel. Early reviews have all been extremely positive and I absolutely cannot wait to see it.
