The Internet Gets Emotional Over Hugh Jackman And Patrick Stewart’s Reunion

We've been blessed with some really great superhero movies this year. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Wonder Woman have all made lots of cash and achieved much critical acclaim, but the one that will go down as the best is probably Logan. The mature, gritty blockbuster gave us a much more grounded take on the character of Wolverine, with some excellent work from director James Mangold and star Hugh Jackman that ensured it was a complete triumph.

Let’s not forget the stellar performance from Patrick Stewart, either, as a nonagenarian Charles Xavier, now suffering from dementia. It was perhaps the actor’s finest work in the whole X-Men movie franchise and given that it was his last time appearing as Xavier alongside Jackman’s Logan, it was also a very emotional watch. The two actors are now retired from all things mutants, of course, but that doesn’t mean they’ve fallen out of touch in real life. Far from it, in fact.

Just this week, Jackman took to Twitter to share the below photo, along with the caption: Father and son reunion. #Logan #Charles #Wolverine

As expected, the pic has sent fans into an emotional meltdown, with many shedding some tears over seeing these two together again. Down below, you can check out some of the best reactions:

Unfortunately, this photo is likely the only place we’ll be seeing the duo reunited since, as we said above, both are gone from the franchise now. Jackman has hung up the Adamantium claws for good and while Stewart has teased on a few occasions that he might be open to returning, it doesn’t seem likely with the direction that Fox is heading in.

As such, it seems like Logan truly marked their last on screen appearance together, but it’s still nice to know that the two old friends are keeping in touch, even outside of the X-Men universe.
