How Would It Work Though?
Diving further into how exactly things would work, Jones noted that it’d probably be best if Earth’s Mightiest Heroes came to Harlem, as it’d be more believable.
“It would be easier to have them come into our world because it would probably be more believable. There’s not some huge universal thing going on, some intergalactic thing invading the planet or something like that. Stark’s up in the tower…”
“Get ’em to Harlem. How good would that be, seeing Tony Stark in Harlem? That’s f-cking brilliant! Although it would be cool to see Luke Cage in a different universe, fighting off some dark overlord. That’d be cool. Luke Cage and Iron Fist in space!”
As much as we’d love to see the Heroes for Hire in space, too, we do have to admit that having the Avengers step into Harlem would probably be the easiest way to make this happen. Then again, who knows? There’d be so many logistical/continuity nightmares that a crossover like this would present that it’s hard to say what would be the best way to do it. Still, we’re definitely on board with it happening, we just don’t expect to see it anytime soon.
After all, Marvel and Netflix’s roster of content shows no signs of making room for any kind of crossover, going from strength to strength and impressing us all. That momentum will culminate with the formation of The Defenders on August 18th, before all four individual heroes break off and return to their own respective solo series shortly thereafter.
For the MCU, the next two-to-three years will herald a similar blend of content, with next year’s Avengers: Infinity War shaping up to be the event movie to end all event movies. Perhaps Marvel will find wiggle room within Phase 4 of the MCU to carve out some form of film/TV crossover, then? Time will tell, but you can bet that some day, this will eventually come to fruition. I mean, it’s simply too exciting a possibility to pass up, right?
