Lady Sif’s future alongside the God of Thunder has been put into question by Jaimie Alexander, the actress who portrays the Asgardian warrior in Marvel’s Thor movies. Alexander recently revealed that a few script changes taking place behind the scenes of Thor: Ragnarok – the third film in the franchise – might be sidelining Lady Sif from the action.

“I am not 100% sure at this moment,” she explained. “I know that they’re changing things with the script and that sort of thing, so I am literally in limbo. I know probably less than you do about it. I would love to do it, but whether or not it’s going to work on my short hiatus from ‘Blindspot’ I’m not sure. There could be a lot of factors when it comes to that decision.”

Her comments this week are interesting given her stance on the film last summer, in which she all-but-confirmed her return in the supposedly final Thor film. “But I do know I will be in Thor 3,” Alexander said last July, “and that Sif will have a very pivotal part in that movie.”

Eight months is a long time, but that’s quite a big turn for Marvel to take if her thoughts about the new script become true. Lady Sif never had the largest role in the series, but in Thor: The Dark World she was pushed forward as a (very brief) potential love interest for the titular character. It’d be nice to see Sif – and any of Thor’s Asgardian besties – get some larger recognition in the franchise.

As it stands, Alexander also has a lot on her plate as the tattooed mystery at the center of NBC’s thriller Blindspot. If she has the time, she said she’d readily embrace the opportunity to jump back into the MCU, even as a small return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to further “explore more of who Sif really is.”

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on Alexander’s role in the MCU, but there’s still plenty of time for developments to be made – Thor: Ragnarok won’t hit theaters until November 3, 2017.
