Marvel’s space-faring sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is teetering on the edge of entering production, and recently director James Gunn posted an update from the film’s pre-production phase.
Taken shortly after a table read of the now finished screenplay – post-credits sting and all – the passionate filmmaker was full of praises when he posted the update via Facebook, and while it doesn’t necessarily reveal anything that we didn’t know already, word is that both Gunn and Marvel are set to unveil the full cast list sooner rather than later.

Of course, it’s a forgone conclusion that the titular ragtag group will all make a return – namely Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper – along with Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan and newcomer Pom Klementieff. While we wait with bated breath, here’s the update per Gunn’s official, ever-active Facebook page.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has been afforded much more breathing room in and around its May 2017 release window now that Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII – also centering on the topic of searching for a wayward parent – has bowed out of its summer slot in favor of a December 2017 release.
Guardians 2, meanwhile, is slated to debut on May 5, 2017.
