More so than his turn in Requiem for a Dream and even the Oscar-winning performance found in Dallas Buyers Club, moviegoers have really taken to Jared Leto’s portrayal of the Joker.
Of course, much of that comes down to Leto’s bizarre method acting, which stole headlines throughout the early stages of production, coupled with the sheer status of the Clown Prince of Crime as a DC icon. But now, less than two weeks out from release, excitement for Suicide Squad is fast approaching tipping point.
After appearing at San Diego Comic-Con along with Task Force X, Jared Leto took to Instagram (via CBM) to post a rather unnerving shot of him dressed to kill as the Joker.
Beyond Jared Leto’s involvement as The Joker, David Ayer’s assembly of baddies also features Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo and Adam Beach as Slipknot. Scott Eastwood and, potentially, Ezra Miller‘s Flash also have roles in the movie.
Suicide Squad will finally make its premiere in theaters on August 5. If you missed out on Warner’s SDCC showcase, check out a handful of new clips from David Ayer’s villain-centric opus. Meanwhile, our own Sarah Myles recently dove into the twisted relationship between Harley Quinn and her muse, the Clown Prince of Crime.
