Back in October news broke that Universal was negotiating with Jason Statham to join the Fast And Furious franchise for the sixth and seventh films in the series, which they then planned to shoot back-to-back this Spring and Summer in Europe. Turns out that the negotiations didn’t work out though as Twitch is reporting that Statham will be passing on both films.

It’s too bad that Universal couldn’t work something out with Statham. It would have been the perfect match, the Fast and Furious series is very well suited to the actor’s strong suits. He’s one of Hollywood’s go-to leading men for fast paced action thrill rides and it would have been great to see him on screen with Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel.

Though Statham won’t be joining the franchise, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster and of course Dwayne Johnson all seem likely to return.

Do you think passing on the film was a good idea for Statham? Let us know in the comments.
