Jennifer Aniston Gets Kidnapped In First Trailer For Life Of Crime

Samuel L. Jackson and Robert De Niro formed one of cinema's truly oddest couples back in 1997's Jackie Brown. Two ageing criminals looking for a get-rich-quick scheme, they weren't the brightest of buttons - but dang, they were fun to watch. With the arrival of the first trailer for Daniel Schecter's Life Of Crime, we're offered a glimpse at the two wannabe gangsters before Jackie was around. It's a sort-of prequel. Ish.

Adapted from Elmore Leonard’s novel The Switch, Life Of Crime harks back… way, way, back before Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara were gun-totin’ couch potatoes. This time around, played by Mos Def and John Hawkes, respectively, Ordell and Louis plot a cunning plan by kidnapping Mickey Dawson (Jennifer Aniston), the wife of a wealthy realtor (Tim Robbins). Intending to extort him for inside info, their ruse fails miserably as it turns out, he doesn’t want her back. His own scheme then falls conveniently into place with his spouse out of the picture.

Check out the official synopsis and trailer, and let us know in the comments below – would you want Jennifer Aniston back?

Based on Elmore Leonard’s novel “The Switch,” LIFE OF CRIME is a dark caper comedy starring Jennifer Aniston, John Hawkes, Yasiin Bey, Will Forte, Mark Boone Junior, Isla Fisher and Tim Robbins. The wife (JENNIFER ANISTON) of a corrupt real estate developer (TIM ROBBINS) is kidnapped by two common criminals (Yasiin Bey and JOHN HAWKES), who intend to extort him with inside information about his crooked business and off-shore accounts. But the husband decides he’d actually rather not pay the ransom to get back his wife, setting off an unbelievable sequence of double crosses and plot twists that could only come from the mind of Elmore Leonard.

Life Of Crime opens in cinemas on August 29th.
