Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor Won’t Be Bald In Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Ever since Jesse Eisenberg was cast as Lex Luthor in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, we've been wondering what look the Academy Award nominee would sport for the film. Usually hairstyles aren't that big of a talking point with movie geeks, but when an actor with a recognizable curly mop of hair is cast as an iconic bald supervillain, fans tend to care.

Ever since Jesse Eisenberg was cast as Lex Luthor in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, we’ve been wondering what look the Academy Award nominee (for David Fincher’s The Social Network) was going to sport for the film. Usually hairstyles aren’t that big of a talking point with movie geeks, but when an actor with a recognizable curly mop of hair is cast as an iconic, bald supervillain, fans tend to care.

Well, get ready for a bit of fanboy outrage then, because if Batman-News.com is to be believed, Eisenberg will not go bald for the role, and instead has “a lot of hair.” At least, he did during the scenes filmed at the LexCorp set over the weekend. Someone present for the filming gave the site a few details on Eisenberg’s look and performance:

“It’s not Eisenberg’s typical curly look – it’s a bit longer, kind of loose and wavy, and it’s dirty blonde. Eisenberg’s Luthor has spastic mannerisms, like a 20-something guy that pounds energy drinks all day. I’m told that the scenes shot take place towards the beginning of the movie… so maybe there’s still a chance that Lex Luthor could show up bald by the end? We’ll have to wait and see.”

It’s definitely possible that Lex somehow go bald during the course of the film. In the comics, he’s been depicted as having hair early on but usually loses it for a number of reasons. At one point, Superboy accidentally spills chemicals on him after using super breath, and in Smallville, Lex had hair as a child but lost it when Clark’s spacecraft crashed down to Earth. Also, Eisenberg could be taking a cue from Gene Hackman’s performance in Superman: The Movie. If you remember, his Lex had hair throughout the film, but at the end it was revealed that he’d been wearing a wig the whole time. So, don’t let this report get you too worked up – there’s still hope for a bald Lex at some point!

In addition to Eisenberg’s look and performance, the site claims to know the identity of Holly Hunter’s character in the film. When she was cast a few months ago, the press release claimed that she was a new character created specifically for the film, but that didn’t stop fans from wondering if she was actually someone like Leslie Thompkins. However, according to Batman-News, she will instead play a U.S. senator who pays a visit to LexCorp.
