While Disney has done a pretty good job of keeping most of their Rogue One: A Star Wars Story secrets under wraps, things are starting to slip out here and there now that we’re approaching the film’s release. Admittedly, there’s still a lot we don’t know about it, but today, we can confirm one more detail, and that’s that Jimmy Smits, who played Bail Organa in the Star Wars prequels, will reprise his role in Gareth Edwards’ film.
During a recent visit to The Talk to promote his new Netflix series The Get Down, the actor was informed that a fan had caught a glimpse of Smits in his Organa costume. While a bit surprised at first, he eventually admitted that yes, the character will appear in Rogue One in what will amount to little more than a cameo role.
Of course, this is far from groundbreaking news, as Organa was never a major character in the Star Wars movies, but he’s still an interesting figure and given his connection to the Rebel Alliance, it’s not too surprising that he’ll be showing up here. There’s no information as to what kind of role he’ll play in the story, but fans will no doubt still be excited by this latest reveal.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens on December 16th, 2016.
