John Boyega’s Had Meetings With Marvel For An MCU Role

Speaking at Awesome Con in Washington, D.C. this weekend, John Boyega revealed that he's had talks with Marvel for an MCU role.

He’s battled far-flung aliens and walked alongside Chewie and Han, but for his next (or one of his next) big-screen venture, The Last Jedi‘s John Boyega may well be teaming up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Currently out promoting his lead role in the blockbuster sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising, Boyega recently took the stage at Awesome Con in Washington, D.C., where one curious fan floated the idea of him taking on a role in the MCU. Unsurprisingly, the actor admitted that he’s actually already had talks with Marvel about it, but wouldn’t reveal anything further.

We say it’s unsurprising because on paper, it’s a no-brainer. John Boyega has charisma to spare, and his rise to prominence – from humble British sci-fi like Attack the Block to Star Wars – has been nothing short of breathtaking. So clearly, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the next stop. Though the actor noted that any type of involvement with the blockbuster franchise wouldn’t come until way down the line, perhaps we’ll see him show up in a Phase 4 release?

What’s a bit unclear here – aside from who Boyega would play – is when this meeting took place. If you’ll recall, about a year ago, it was rumored that the actor had been talking to Marvel, with some fans speculating that he might be showing up in Black Panther. Obviously, that didn’t happen, but we’re curious if what Boyega mentioned at Awesome Con is the same meeting from last spring or a more recent one.

Whatever the case may be, it’s clear that him and the House of Ideas are interested in working together and we imagine it’ll only be a matter of time before John Boyega finds himself joining up with Spidey, Doctor Strange, T’Challa and the rest of the gang on the big screen. Until then, though, take to the comments section down below and let us know who you’d like to see the actor play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
