John C. Reilly Joins The Team On Anchorman The Legend Continues

Yep, it’s me again, running around the room shouting, “You guys! You guys! Oh my God, you guys!” As if I was not thrilled enough by the additions of both James Marsden and Kristen Wiig to the cast of Anchorman: The Legend Continues, we can now add the name John C. Reilly to the growing cast list of awesome awesomeness.

Reilly is not quite officially confirmed, but Bleeding Cool stumbled onto an Atlanta casting call for John C. Reilly doubles, where the Anchorman sequel is filming. They project that this means that Reilly is probably shooting his part for Anchorman: The Legend Continues in Atlanta right now. It really would not be much of a stretch to assume that either, given Reilly’s extensive relationship with both Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay. Everyone else is in this movie too, so why not John C. Reilly?

In any case, the cast keeps on growing by leaps and bounds. This is beginning to sound more and more like a Wes Anderson cast list than anything else. But what a group of comedians! With Marsden set to play Ron Burgundy’s nemesis, Wiig there as Brick’s wife and/or love interest, and everyone from Vince Vaughn and Paul Rudd returning for their original parts … well, I really am just incredibly excited for this one.

The only thing I fear is that notion of too much of a good thing. It’s great to bring together a big, impressive cast, but only if the script is actually funny. If this is just going to be Ferrell and Co. standing around pointing at each other and expecting us to laugh, I’ll go home right now.

But let’s face it – it’s unlikely that Anchorman: The Legend Continues will suck. Even my deep-seated cynicism about the state of Hollywood does not permit for this movie to be anything less than awesome.

What do you think about John C. Reilly as an addition to Anchorman: The Legend Continues? Is it possible to have too much of a good thing? Let us know in the comments below.
