This time last year it was revealed that John Gotti Jr. would be revealing a lot of inside details about his father, Gotti Sr. head of the Gambino crime family, in a feature film, a documentary and a book project. With the feature film clearly steaming ahead, there is a script which is currently circling the studios and now John Travolta is in serious talks to play John Gotti Sr. and Nick Cassavetes is attached to direct.
The film’s producer Marc Fiore, said to Entertainment Weekly that he is definitely the guy they had in mind:
We would love to have him. He’s a terrific actor. John Gotti, Sr. — he’s an icon. And so is Travolta … The Gottis have an image already. People know who they are. You can’t just be a good actor, you have to be a great actor who can become John Gotti.
Fiore also mentioned that the script has been sent to James Franco for him to consider the role of Gotti Jr, though they are in very “preliminary stages”. The script is written by Leo Rossi and is shaping up for a summer shoot.
