Did Justice League Also Apply CGI To Henry Cavill’s Hands?

A photo circling on Twitter appears to reveal that Warner Bros. also used CGI on Henry Cavill's hands during Justice League.

Call it mustache-gate or unfortunate timing, but coming out of Justice League, everyone – and we really do mean everyone – unanimously agreed that Henry Cavill’s upper lip looked very, very strange during select portions of Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s superhero ensemble movie.

There’s a reason for the last-minute CGI, of course, as Henry Cavill was contracted to Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the Paramount action sequel in which he plays a high-ranking operative…with a mustache. So when Justice League‘s production ran into overtime in order to accommodate the sudden loss of Snyder, Cavill was left with no choice but to return to the Warner Bros. lot with mustache still intact.

The fallout was fast and furious, with countless memes of Cavill’s upper lip popping up overnight. However, if a new action shot is to be believed, then Justice League‘s much-maligned CGI wasn’t limited to the removal of Henry Cavill’s glorious mustache; instead, it seems as though Warner’s VFX team also applied some sort of effect to the actor’s hands. Either that, or this particular shot has captured one of Justice League‘s stunt doubles, albeit with Cavill’s face (and hands!) layered on top.

For those of you who have seen Justice League with your own two eyes, you’ll know this shot is lifted from Superman’s confrontation with Steppenwolf, as our Man of Steel threatens to kill the alien threat once and for all. He won’t do much with those CG hands, mind you, but that’s where the VFX comes in.

But what say you? Is this a clear indication that Justice League also called upon special effects to enhance (or perhaps correct/replace) Henry Cavill’s hands? You can, as always, drop your thoughts below.
