Justice League: Concept Art For Batman’s Tactical Suit Emerges From The Shadows

As has been the case since the Dark Knight rocked some new duds in 1992’s Batman Returns, we as a moviegoing audience have come to expect our superheroes to don a new costume in each subsequent outing. Having said that, we find it only appropriate that Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader be among those to carry on that proud tradition with Justice League.

As has been the case since the Dark Knight rocked some new duds in 1992’s Batman Returns, we as a moviegoing audience have come to expect our superheroes to don a new costume in each subsequent outing. Having said that, we find it only appropriate that Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader be among those to carry on that proud tradition with Justice League.

Furthermore, Affleck can count himself among the Batmen to have worn more than one suit in a given film. To date, only Val Kilmer, George Clooney and Christian Bale have been the others to share that honor in live action, with Affleck previously having done so in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. In fact, he sported three in that outing, those being his standard costume, the infamous Knightmare look, and the mech suit ripped from the pages of Frank Miller’s classic graphic novel, The Dark Knight Returns.

But with Justice League, this seasoned Masked Manhunter probably wanted something less bulky than the aforementioned mech suit, but one that’d shield him well from the Apokoliptian invaders. Thus, he donned the sweet-looking tactical suit featuring armored plates and some stylish goggles.

Of course, this look went through a planning phase just as anything does, and now we’ve been treated to some concept art (above) thanks to artist Jerad S. Marantz. On his Instagram page, he expressed how grateful he was to be a part of the process:

“Always an honor to work on a bat suit. I had an incredible time working for costume designer @michaelwilkinson in London with the amazing crew at #warnerbros#leavesdenstudios.”

As we can see, what’s been declassified here is pretty close to what was seen onscreen in Justice League. But if some radically different concept art is to surface, we’ll bring it to you as soon as humanly possible.
