Justice League Social Media Promo Hints At The Flash’s Origin

In stark contrast to what Marvel Studios did with The Avengers, Warner Bros. have taken a different approach by not yet exploring the origins of several major players to be included in Justice League. As you know, the only Avengers not to be granted their own films before that particular team-up were Hawkeye and Black Widow, but on the DC side of things, only Superman and Wonder Woman have been given such treatment to this point.

To be quite honest, yet another Batman origin story isn’t really needed, but there are still many mainstream moviegoers largely unfamiliar with the likes of the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg – though who’s to say their eventual solo movies can’t bring everyone up to speed? Plus, you have to admit that the latter two could really benefit from the boost given by Justice League, thus increasing interest in their respective outings.

Unfortunately, the ship may have sailed when it comes to the Scarlet Speedster now that his solo flick has been rebranded as Flashpoint, something that’ll no doubt adapt Geoff Johns’ universe altering modern classic, but that doesn’t mean that either Zack Snyder or Joss Whedon couldn’t have shot his origin with the intent of including it in Justice League. After all, all you really need to do is show a quick flashback to Barry Allen getting struck by lightning in his lab and – voila – the audience knows the score.

On that note, a post on JL’s official Twitter page hints that we may be in store for just that. Accompanied by the caption of “After an electric storm, Barry Allen was never the same,” we see the Flash himself zipping through the streets as only he can.

Admittedly, this could just be an instance of somebody over at WB PR having a little fun, but we can still hope. Regardless, all will be revealed when Justice League storms theaters on November 17.
