Jyn Erso Is In A Spot Of Bother In Fresh Batch Of Rogue One Images

Continuing its fall movie preview, Yahoo Movies has unveiled a new series of images for Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Jyn Erso is a drifter. A former Alliance soldier described as “reckless, aggressive, and undisciplined” by Mon Mothma. But soon after the Galactic Civil War peters out, it is Mon Mothma who calls up Felicity Jones’ character to help pluck blueprints to the Death Star and, ultimately, find a means to scupper the Empire’s plan to fire up the deadliest weapon in all the galaxy.

That’s essentially the elevator pitch to the Rogue One heroine, who finds herself in a spot of bother in the latest image to emerge for Gareth Edwards’ Anthology film. Hailing from Yahoo – following up on previews of both Doctor Strange and Justin Kurzel’s Assassin’s Creed – the still features Jyn Erso in handcuffs, which is likely taken from early on in Edwards’ spinoff when Erso clashes with the Rebel Alliance.

Meanwhile, in the gallery above you’ll find an additional two pics that shift attention over to the dark side of the Force and, in particular, Director Orson Krennic and his regiment of Deathtroopers. Thanks to an upcoming tie-in novel, we know that Krennic will hold a connection to Jyn’s father, Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen), a gifted scientist who proves instrumental in the Empire’s plans to manufacture that aforementioned planet killer.

War is tearing the galaxy apart. For years the Republic and the Separatists have battled across the stars, each building more and more deadly technology in an attempt to win the war. As a member of Chancellor Palpatine’s top secret Death Star project, Orson Krennic is determined to develop a superweapon before their enemies can. And an old friend of Krennic’s, the brilliant scientist Galen Erso, could be the key.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story lands on December 16 and continues to be one of the most active sources of exciting tidbits going into the fall season. We know that Emperor Palpatine holds no part in the film, for instance, while there’s also a first glance at Imperial astromech C2-B5.
