Kathryn Bigelow’s Osama Bin Laden Project On The Horizon?

The world was alive this morning as it woke up to news that Osama Bin Laden had been killed by US forces in Pakistan. The Hollywood world was moving to. Kathryn Bigelow's rumoured Black Ops project, which has been titled Kill Bin Laden, is one of the projects that may get fast tracked into production. The timeliness of the subject matter being key here to getting the film into a quick pre-production period and reportedly Joel Edgerton has been pursued for a role. However another question hangs over the production. Working with The Hurt Locker scribe Mark Boal, the film was about a failed attempt by the Black Ops to kill the Al Queda leader. That now needs rewriting. Of course the two could lose interest due to other Bin Laden projects being fast tracked by other studios, meaning they will make Triple Frontier their priority, a film which already has Tom Hanks attached to star.

However, Bigelow and Boal are digesting the news and have the next week to figure out how to make the project work. Boal used to be a reporter in Afghanistan and will no doubt use his extensive intelligence connections to get information on how the task of offing America’s Most Wanted took place. And if they decide to get moving, this will no doubt be coming pretty darn quickly. (The Hollywood Reporter)
