With less than a month to go before the Peyton Reed-directed blockbuster concludes what has already been a historic year at the box office for Marvel Studios, details regarding the twentieth MCU entry are coming fast and furious. Most notably, earlier this week, rumour had it the title for Avengers 4 will be revealed after the final post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Upon the conclusion of Infinity War, it was very apparent that Ant-Man and the Wasp will have a significant role to play in setting up Avengers 4, we just didn’t figure the connection would be unveiled so soon.

With less than a month to go before the Peyton Reed-directed blockbuster concludes what’s already been a historic year at the box office for Marvel Studios, details regarding the twentieth MCU entry are coming in fast and furious. Most notably, earlier this week, rumor had it that the title for Avengers 4 will be revealed after the final post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

While that may still prove to be true, president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has disclosed that the correlation between the titular supergroup and the Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne-starring sequel will delve much, much deeper. Towards the end of a new featurette on the Wasp (seen below), portrayed by Evangeline Lilly, Feige confirmed that not only will the sequel connect “directly to Avengers 4,” but that the titular characters “are going to be very important going forward.”

Unfortunately, the producing vet of twenty years didn’t divulge much beyond that superficial statement. Nevertheless, yesterday, director Peyton Reed outlined how his sequel will bridge the gap between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. He also explained that rather than pick-up where the third supergroup installment left off, the pic will focus on entirely separate, but nonetheless enormous, stakes.

Although it isn’t expected to light up the ticket booth quite like its predecessor, Ant-Man and the Wasp should still contribute handsomely to the highest grossing franchise of all-time and we look forward to seeing the sequel crawl into theaters everywhere on July 6th.
