Following on from their report that Jesse Eisenberg’s cameo as Lex Luthor has been excised from Joss Whedon’s cut of Justice League, BatmanNews.com is claiming that sources have informed them that another character will be absent from the film as well. Kiersey Clemons was set to make her debut as Barry Allen’s love interest Iris West in Justice League, but now that doesn’t seem to be the case.

It was already looking likely that Clemons would have at least a reduced role in the film, as the actress previously stated that she wasn’t involved with the extensive reshoots that have taken place over the past few months. However, the Dope star was clearly under the impression that she would still be a part of the movie at the time, as she praised her scenes as Iris as “f–cking sick.”

Originally, Clemons was coaxed into the DC Extended Universe by her Dope director Rick Famuyiwa, back when he was in charge of The Flash. Even when he bowed out of the project, however, Clemons remained on board. Since then, The Flash has morphed into Flashpoint, which is expected to be a much bigger universe-shattering event, meaning Clemons’ part in the movie is up in the air. That’s now especially the case seeing as she won’t be appearing in Justice League either.

If true, this is a real shame, as scenes between Barry and Iris would have likely helped to flesh out the man behind the Flash. Seeing as Justice League is his first proper appearance, after a couple of cameos in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, any character details are much needed. Still, these excised scenes – as well as Lex Luthor’s cameo – are likely to be included as extras on the DVD release. Or maybe even as part of an extended edition. Time will tell.

With or without Clemons, Justice League will land in cinemas on November 17th.
