New Deadpool 2 BTS Photos Show Us How Cable Was Brought To Life

Some new Deadpool 2 behind the scenes photos have hit the web this week, showing us before and after VFX shots featuring Josh Brolin's Cable.

Initially slated to open on June 1st, Deadpool 2 was subsequently shuffled into perhaps the most hazardous window of release ever, between Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story – precisely to avoid a box office clash with the latter, mind you.

Much to the surprise of everyone, though – 20th Century Fox specifically, and Disney and Lucasfilm especially – the David Leitch-directed R-rated farce bested the opening weekend total of the space western by over $40 million. Then, to add insult to injury, Deadpool 2 crossed the half-billion dollar mark at the worldwide box office just the other week, a figure Solo can consider a pipe dream, at best.

To commemorate these various achievements, earlier this week we compiled a gallery of concept art and before and after VFX images from the film, and another shortly after, complete with hi-res stills highlighting Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and Juggernaut, among others. As for today, well, we’ve now got another batch of photos for your viewing pleasure, this time featuring more before and after VFX shots focusing mainly on Josh Brolin’s Cable, who just might be Wolverine in disguise if you subscribe to a wild, yet intriguing theory that’s been doing the rounds.

You see, between the pages of an Ultimate Universe Marvel comic, the fan favorite character was reimagined as an older, grizzled Logan, sent back in time to kill Charles Xavier. I know, bizarre right? Well, as it turns out, the idea isn’t that farfetched, as there are clearly parallels between what we see in Deadpool 2 and the Ultimate version of Cable. Give the theory a read if you’re ready and willing to have your mind blown.

Wild theories aside, and seeing as Brolin’s signed on for a four-film arc, there’s certainly enough screentime available to explore the character even further and we can’t wait to see what Cable and the rest of the gang get up to in the upcoming X-Force spinoff, which is the next time we’ll see them.
