Lin-Manuel Miranda Wants To Play Carnage In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

You might know Lin-Manuel Miranda from Broadway's Hamilton, which is one of the hottest shows out there right now, but the actor is also looking to make his way into the world of film. He appears to be quite busy, too. After signing on for Disney's Marry Poppins sequel, not to mention also working on the music for their Little Mermaid remake and cooking up a secret project with Zootopia co-director Byron Howard, he's now revealed his desire to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

You might know Lin-Manuel Miranda from Broadway’s Hamilton, which is one of the hottest shows out there right now, but the actor is also looking to make his way into the world of film. He appears to be quite busy, too. After signing on for Disney’s Marry Poppins sequel, not to mention also working on the music for their Little Mermaid remake and cooking up a secret project with Zootopia co-director Byron Howard, he’s now revealed his desire to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

On the latest episode of Meet the Movie Press (via MCU Exchange), Simon Thompson talked about an interview he did with Miranda recently, where the actor told him that he’d love to play Carnage in the MCU:

[Miranda] is a big fan of Marvel. And there is one particular character that he would actually like to play. It’s Carnage. He said if Disney and Marvel were looking at doing a Maximum Carnage movie or bringing Carnage in [the MCU] as a character, he wants to be Carnage. Genuinely as a fan, he would love to play Carnage. That’s a goal of his.

Normally, we wouldn’t pay any attention to this sort of thing. After all, every actor under the sun has made it known that they’d love to be in a Marvel film. Well, almost every actor. But in Miranda’s case, it’s worth taking note of as he clearly has strong ties with Disney. Aside from what we mentioned above, he also helped with the music in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. As such, we’re inclined to believe that the House of Mouse may actually listen to him.

That being said, there are currently no plans to introduce Carnage into the MCU and even if there were, there’s no saying that Disney would hire Miranda for the job. They may consider him, sure, but it’s by no means an automatic thing and the actor would no doubt have some serious competition for the role, especially since he really doesn’t seem well suited for the character.

Don’t get us wrong, Lin-Manuel Miranda is hugely talented, but somehow, we just can’t see him playing Carnage. Who knows though? Stranger things have happened, and as the Broadway star continues to strengthen his ties with the studio, we’ll be watching carefully for where he appears next.
