Logan Star Hugh Jackman Reveals Details Of Scrapped Sabretooth Cameo

Though X-Men Origins: Wolverine remains one of the more reviled installments in 20th Century Fox's X-Universe, most people agree that Liev Schreiber's Victor Creed, AKA Sabertooth, was one of the few highlights of the movie. For this reason, many fans hoped that the Ray Donovan actor would reprise the role for Logan, and although that never came to pass, we do know that it was in the cards at one point.

A while back, we found out that there was a scene in an early draft of the script for James Mangold’s superb Wolverine swansong that featured an appearance from the bloodthirsty mutant, but it wound up being cut before cameras started rolling. At the time, we only had a few vague references to a casino to go on, but now thanks to star Hugh Jackman, we have a much better idea of what the sequence would have entailed.

There was a script stage. There was a story point where they go to Vegas, you know how they go to the Oklahoma casino? They go there and at this point Sabretooth is running like a major casino and really, really wealthy, and really kind of runs a town, and sort of respectable in a way but is still himself. That idea was thrown around, I forgot about that.

It’s a shame this never made the cut, because with Jackman hanging up the claws it seems highly unlikely that we’ll ever see Schreiber return as his bestial half-brother. Then again, never underestimate the power of fan appeasement – if it’s something enough people want to see, it might just happen.

Logan is set to be released on Blu-ray and DVD on May 23, and if you’d like to take home your own copy of the film, be sure to enter our contest below!
