Game of Thrones starlet Maisie Williams has responded to the New Mutants casting rumors, stating simply: “Sign me up!”

Word of Williams being linked with the role of Wolfsbane first appeared late last month, where relative up-and-comer Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) was also reportedly circling Magik. Since then, 20th Century Fox has denied those claims. However, when Williams was quizzed by Entertainment Weekly about Josh Boone’s planned spinoff, the actress suggested Fox is indeed staging negotiations for the leading parts.

Granted, Williams stopped short of revealing too much about New Mutants at such an early stage, but confirmed that she “would absolutely love to be a part of it.” Take heed, Fox!

I can’t say much about it at all, but I would absolutely love to be a part of it, [and] to be a part of the Marvel family. New Mutants looks absolutely incredible and I’ve always loved the idea of spin-offs and [director] Joshua Boone is incredibly talented. So, yeah, sign me up.

On paper, stepping into the shoes of a spirited and shape-shifting Lycan seems right in Williams’ wheelhouse, now that the actress has established her range all throughout her harrowing journey across Westeros. Supposing a deal does place, we understand Fox will be keen to welcome back Alexandra Shipp as Storm following a role in next month’s X-Men: Apocalypse.

As for New Mutants, even with Williams’ comments, those rumors should be treated as just that. Let’s not forget as well that the actress has expressed a desire to spearhead projects in the past (read: The Last of Us) only for them to stall in development. Apples to oranges, of course, but either way, we’ll be keeping track of Boone’s spinoff as casting begins to heat up.
