Man Of Steel 2 Announcement Said To Be Imminent

While it sounds like Warner Bros are waiting to see how Aquaman and Shazam! do before deciding on what's going to happen with Matt Reeves' The Batman, it looks as if they're raring to go for a Henry Cavill starring Man of Steel 2. The rumor comes courtesy of the insider gossip-filled El Fanboy Podcast, which has noted that Henry Cavill is set to appear on the Warner Bros panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, which runs from 19-22 July, together with the fact that Cavill's diary for the next year or so is suspiciously clear.

While it sounds like Warner Bros. are waiting to see how Aquaman and Shazam! do before deciding on what’s going to happen with Matt Reeves’ The Batman, it looks as if they’re raring to go for a Henry Cavill-starring Man of Steel 2 and an official announcement could be imminent.

Or at least, that’s according to the insider gossip-filled El Fanboy Podcast, which has noted that Cavill’s set to appear on the Warner Bros. panel at San Diego Comic-Con, which runs from July 19th-22nd, and that the actor’s diary for the next year or so is suspiciously clear.

This news dovetails with Henry recently seen hitting the gym on Instagram, claiming that he’s “working on the Super Buns,” a reference to Superman’s ass. Similarly, recurring whispers put Christopher McQuarrie in the directing seat, having just finished working with Cavill on this summer’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout. On top of all that, the Man of Steel star recently signed a contract for further appearances as Superman in upcoming DC projects, indicating that the company has faith in the actor’s portrayal of the iconic hero.

Having said all that, there’s the very real prospect that Cavill could be at SDCC simply to hype up his almost-confirmed appearance as Supes in 2019’s Shazam!, of which it’s rumored we’ll see some footage at the event. While seeing some more of that pic isn’t a lock, we do know that director David F. Sandberg will be in attendance, so it’d make sense for Warner Bros. to begin the hype train for the interesting looking project. Then again, they may be wary of taking attention away from James Wan’s Aquaman, which is confirmed to be premiering its trailer at SDCC.

Either way, word is that the studio are still angling Man of Steel 2 for a 2020 release, so they’d better get their skates on if they want to get it out on time. As always, watch this space for more.
