For their upcoming film, The Avengers, Marvel are looking to cast a female role for the film. News of this came about when Demi Lovato was going to be in the film, now she’s out and director Joss Whedon is looking for another actress to take the role.

The details of the part are being, unsurprisingly, kept under wraps. Though both The Hollywood Reporter and The Playlist are betting that it will likely be the character of The Wasp, one of the founding members of the Avengers team. The cast is already looking pretty hot with plenty of big name actors. Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow is so far the only female among the group which includes: Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L Jackson.

Whichever actress ends up in the role needs to be cast soon, filming is expected to begin in the spring with a fixed release date of May 4th, 2012.
