Very little is known about Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man reboot as of right now. Jon Watts has been confirmed to direct and Tom Holland is starring, but there’s no word on who the villain will be or what kind of direction the story will go in. However, at least one additional detail has been revealed today as we’ve learned that the film is set to be released in IMAX 3D on July 7th, 2017.
IMAX’s Greg Foster had this to say about bringing Spider-Man to the biggest of screens next year:
“IMAX’s long-standing relationship with Marvel and Sony first began with ‘Spider-Man’ in 2002, establishing the ultimate way for fans to be transported into the world of their favorite characters like Peter Parker.”
The untitled Spider-Man reboot was originally set to be released on July 28th, but it was recently brought forward by three weeks. The character is, of course, set to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before that though, as he’ll appear in Captain America: Civil War this May.
While we’ve yet to see so much as a single official image of the new Peter Parker, it likely won’t be too much longer before more about both him and his solo outing will be revealed, so stay tuned.
