Deadline reports new cast additions to the upcoming fantasy film A Winter’s Tale, the directorial debut of Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind). White Collar star Matt Bomer has joined the cast, as has Hollywood legend Eva Marie Saint (North By Northwest) and True Blood star Lucy Griffiths.

Based on the acclaimed 1983 Mark Helprin novel, A Winter’s Tale will star Colin Farrell as a thief who breaks into the home of a wealthy man played by William Hurt. Farrell begins a relationship with Hurt’s terminally-ill daughter (Jessica Findlay-Brown), which leads to reincarnation, a time-shift of 100 years and a flying horse (as one would expect).

Saint’s “pivotal” role is being kept a secret, but Bomer and Griffiths will play Coling Farrell’s parents, who I imagine Farrell will interact with when he uses the “time-shift” to go back to 1955 and make them fall in love with each other at the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance (I have admittedly not read the book).

Bomer’s recent turn as a male stripper in Magic Mike has increased his popularity, and led to rumors that he will be cast as the lead in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie. In addition to the aforementioned cast members, he will also be joined by Will Smith and Russell Crowe, both of whom are friends of director Goldsman and agreed to take small roles in the film.

The plot and the names involved make this movie sound like it might be pretty interesting. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
