Released today is a brand new still from Gareth Evans’ upcoming sequel The Raid 2. If the actor in the photo looks familiar, that’s because it’s Yayan Ruhian. Who’s that you ask? He’s the guy who played Mad Dog in the first film. He’ll be returning for the follow up, but not as Mad Dog. Instead, he’ll be playing a new character named Prakoso.
As far as we know, there’s no connection between the two and at this point, we have no idea how the character will factor into the plot. Speaking of plot, what we know so far is that it picks up right where the first film ended and follows “Rama as he goes undercover and infiltrates the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force.”
So far, it’s hard to judge how this highly anticipated sequel will turn out. We haven’t seen a whole lot from the film and I’m definitely eager to catch a glimpse of some footage.
That being said, I’m pretty confident that The Raid 2 will live up to the hype. The original was incredible, one of my favorite action films of all time. Evans is an extremely talented filmmaker and I have full faith that he’ll deliver a sequel that’s on par, if not better, than the first film.
