20th Century Fox has acquired an untitled Tinker Bell film for director Shawn Levy to helm and Melissa McCarthy to lead. Said to be a comedy-adventure, it will offer up a “fresh take on a classic tale,” one which originated from the two aforementioned talents. Nicholas Stoller will hop on board to pen the script, with Levy and McCarthy producing via their respective production banners.
No word yet on any additional cast members, or story details, but we imagine that McCarthy will be playing Tinker Bell in what is likely a live-action film. The other thing that’s unclear here is what tone this project will take. Will it feature more of the R-rated comedy that Stoller and McCarthy are known for, or will they be toning things down a bit to target the children?
Regardless of what Fox has in store for us, we’re definitely intrigued, and we’ll certainly be bringing you more news on this untitled Tinker Bell film as we get it.
