Yes, the on-again, off-again status of the director’s long-awaited sequel continues to confound fans, but for now Burton’s attention is firmly focused on his soon-to-be-released adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ fantasy novel.

With today’s maiden snippet, we’re introduced to Asa Butterfield’s Jake, a curious teenager who stumbles upon an alternate reality while licking his wounds from a family tragedy. There, he meets a whole host of eclectic children, each with their own peculiar ability – be it invisibility or a mouth located on the back of their heads. That’s right, we’re deep into Burton’s wheelhouse now.

Penned by Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class, Kingsman: The Secret Service), there’s an air of the X-Men academy emanating from Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children in all the right ways, and we have every faith that Burton’s rendition of Ransom Riggs’ novel will be just as stylish and magical as the director’s recent efforts behind the lens.

Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children swings its mighty doors open on September 30. Eva Green, Chris O’Dowd, Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Rupert Everett, Terence Stamp, with Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson also star.
