It’s Your Move On The First RoboCop Poster

The exciting first trailer for Jose Padilha's Robocop hit the web earlier this month, giving fans the first solid look at the long-anticipated remake. Today, to continue the promotion for the film, we have the first official poster showing Joel Kinnaman as the half-man, half-machine crimefighter.

The exciting first trailer for Jose Padilha’s RoboCop hit the web earlier this month, giving fans their first solid look at the long-anticipated remake. Today, to continue the promotion for the film, we have the first official poster showing Joel Kinnaman as the half-man, half-machine crimefighter.

The poster features the RoboCop against a white background, with the famous and simple quote “Your Move” emblazoned next to his head. And… that’s about it. Oh, he’s holding a gun too?

Frankly, this poster is a bit bland for my taste. Yeah, the suit is awesome, but it’s nothing that we haven’t already seen in the promotional images for the film. We’ve seen a lot of quality posters so far this year, and this one just isn’t on the level of some of the other ones. It’s not horrible, but it’s just not anything exciting, and this is the sort of movie something very exciting can be done for. Hopefully the future promotions for this movie aren’t quite so safe.

I’m a huge fan of Paul Verhoeven’s original, but unlike some fans, I’m happy the franchise is being modernized. While some classic sci-fi films feel current despite being older, I’ve always felt RoboCop isn’t one of those. It’s a film I love despite the older effects, not because of them. A RoboCop made with modern film technology, well that’s something I’m absolutely thrilled to see.

Seriously though, if you want to be excited for this movie and this poster isn’t doing it for you, head on over and watch the first trailer. If you’re an action fan or a sci-fi fan, that ought to do the trick.

RoboCop hits theaters February 7th, 2014.
