Leave it to the incredibly self-aware Muppets franchise to keep audiences not only on their pop culture toes, but entertained in style. We’ve seen a couple great The Muppets parody trailers from Disney already, including a Green Lantern nod and a fuzzy romcom makeover. Now The Muppets goes dark and gritty in a great new parody trailer taking on edgy upcoming remake The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Parodying The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is another savvy move by the filmmakers behind the new The Muppets movie, set to hit theaters this November. Not only is the buzz around David Fincher‘s high-tension mystery/thriller growing, but a special eight minute preview was recently aired which has given the film even more steam approaching its December release.
The Muppets “The Pig with the Froggy Tattoo” trailer has adopted some similar stylings to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, even employing a self-aware techno pop soundtrack for the trailer that is happy to admit it’s just that. Check it out below and let us know if you think it’s a hit or a miss.
