Natalie Portman, one of Hollywood’s best and my personal favorite, may be retiring from acting to attend to her child, Aleph Portman-Millepied.
Have U Heard is reporting that the recent Oscar winner is considering taking a step back from the world of film. She hasn’t been spotted on the Hollywood scene lately and sources say that she turned down a role in the upcoming film Adaline.
While speaking to The Sun magazine Portman made comparisons to famous actress Audrey Hepburn and her decisions to put family first:
“Audrey made some good choices in life… More and more I realize how unimportant it is to be in the history books or anything like that. Putting time and energy.”
Honestly, this is awful news. I love Natalie Portman and she’s one of the most talented individuals working in Hollywood. While I don’t think she’ll retire for good, it sounds like she’ll definitely be taking a break, and a long one.
I fully appreciate the fact that she needs to look after Aleph, but to stop acting would be foolish. She’s such a wonderful actress and to not share her talents with the world anymore would be a bad decision.
Like I said, I’m sure it will be a while before we see her back on the big screen again but I do hope that she’ll return eventually.
