Netflix To Ring In The New Year By Purging A Whole Lot Of Movies

Life is ephemeral. Nothing lasts forever, least of all your favorite streaming movies and TV shows on Netflix. It used to be you could go to third-party websites to find out when movies would be expiring from Netflix's streaming service, but no more. Now the only place to find that information is on individual listings within Netflix's own website (or various apps). How are we to know which films we never got around to watching that we'll be missing in a few days?

Life is ephemeral. Nothing lasts forever, least of all your favorite streaming movies and TV shows on Netflix. It used to be you could go to third-party websites to find out when movies would be expiring from Netflix’s streaming service, but no more. Now the only place to find that information is on individual listings within Netflix’s own website or apps. How are we to know which films we never got around to watching that we’ll be missing in a few days?

Well, where there’s a will there’s a way. In this case, that way is through the seedy back alley of the Internet known as Reddit, where one user was kind enough to list all the various films and TV shows that will no longer be on Netflix after the first of the year. Here is that very list:

There are some pretty good films among that list, so if you’re looking for something to do as you count down to the New Year tomorrow, having yourself a movie marathon might not be a bad option. In particular, Brick is a hidden gem of an indie film showcasing the acting chops of one Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Being John Malkovich is a great introduction to the work of Her director Spike Jonze, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a fantastic, mind-bendy sci-fi romance from director Michel Gondry and Being John Malkovich screenwriter Charlie Kaufman. Check them out before you’ll be forced to be watch them through some other, mildly less convenient format.
