Disney has released a simple, yet elegant new poster for their Beauty and the Beast remake today which pays homage to the 1994 classic. It’s the latest bit of promotional material to arrive on the web, after we got a new batch of photos early last week. They gave us a look at the star-studded cast in costume and while this new poster is nowhere near as revealing, it’s a welcome piece of art nonetheless.

Behind the camera for the remake is Bill Condon, who’ll be directing Emma Watson and Dan Stevens as the titular pair. As you can see in the gallery below, the poster is reminiscent of the one for the original, and is a nice nod to what’s widely considered to be one of Disney’s very best films – at least, in our opinion.

While some people still aren’t on board with the whole “remaking classics from our childhood” trend, this particular movie does show some promise. The talent on board is exceptional, and from what we’ve heard, Condon’s version of the classic tale will feature three brand new songs, an updated backstory for Belle and even some “unused lyrics” from the original. That’s a lot to look forward to, and from what we’ve seen of the remake so far, we’re inclined to believe that it won’t just be a cash in.

Watson and Stevens may anchor the fairytale as the titular, lovestruck pair, but Bill Condon and Disney have assembled quite the stellar cast to fill out Beauty and the Beast. Chief among them are Ian McKellen and Ewan McGregor, who are on board as as Cogsworth and Lumiere, respectively. Elsewhere, Luke Evans will play the part of Gaston, Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts., Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette and Kevin Kline as Belle’s father, Maurice. Josh Gad and Stanley Tucci also star.

Beauty and the Beast is set to hit theaters March 17, 2017, and we now know that it’ll open against A24’s Free Fire, which just announced its release date earlier today.
