We’re all eagerly awaiting tonight’s teaser for Black Panther and Marvel knows it. Throughout the day, they’ve been slowly drip-feeding us information about the movie, beginning with the poster released this morning. Honestly, it was a bit underwhelming and whoever Marvel’s paying for their Photoshop skills needs to sharpen up their act a bit.

That aside, Black Panther remains one of the most interesting sounding films on the studio’s busy slate. It promises a fresh cast of characters, an original sounding sci-fi African paradise setting and looks to be a rare blockbuster with a predominantly black cast and director. Details have so far been thin on the ground, but we have a bit more flesh on the bones with this just-released synopsis:

“Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.”

It’s not a huge amount to go on, to be honest, especially considering that we already knew Erik Killmonger and Man-Ape will be in the movie. Still, it’s tantalizing to tease the unleashing of “the full power” of Black Panther. T’Challa already seemed pretty damn capable in Captain America: Civil War, so cranking his powers to the next level should be a recipe for some fantastic action scenes.

We’ll have a better idea of what’s going on in Black Panther in just a couple of hours, when Marvel drops that teaser trailer we’ve all been itching to see.
