New Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Photos Feature Mantis, Drax And More

All your favorites have returned today in these brand new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 photos, which feature Drax, Star-Lord and even Baby Groot (though you'll have to look closely if you hope to spot the adorable little guy). We've only got five photos in total, and none of them are terribly revealing, but it's definitely nice to get another look at both the returning heroes and new character Mantis (who will also be in Avengers: Infinity War).

All your favorites have returned today in these brand new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 photos, which feature Drax, Star-Lord and even Baby Groot (though you’ll have to look closely if you hope to spot the adorable little guy).

We’ve only got five photos in total, and none of them are terribly revealing, but it’s definitely nice to get another look at both the returning heroes and new character Mantis (who will also be in Avengers: Infinity War). Other than that, there’s nothing particularly noteworthy here, but given that the upcoming sequel is by far one of 2017’s biggest films, we’ll take what we can get.

Speaking to USA Today, who debuted the pics, here’s what director James Gunn had to share:

“The first movie was successful because we took chances and gave people the unexpected. This movie can only really be what it is, Guardians can only be what they are, if they’re taking a risk. It means giving them a much different movie.”

The outlet also confirms that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes place two months after the events of the original and catches up with Star-Lord as he “comes to grips with finally finding his father.” Speaking about his job as the team’s leader, Pratt noted the following about his character:

“I don’t know if Quill is ever going to be a fully functioning, responsible adult.”

A few of the other cast members also chimed in with some quotes in USA Today’s piece, but nothing substantial was revealed. Marvel is keeping their cards close to their chest on this one – understandably so – and it looks like we’ll have to wait until the spring to learn more. Thankfully, there’s not too much longer to go now.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 blasts into theaters on May 5th, after which it’ll be followed by two other Marvel films coming our way this year: Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7th and Thor: Ragnarok on November 3rd. Suffice to say, it’s a good time to be a fan of comic book movies.
