New Inferno Trailer Unleashes An Extinction Event Like None Other

Ahead of its launch on October 28, Sony has premiered the all-new teaser for Ron Howard's apocalyptic threequel, Inferno.

Robert Langdon, widely considered to be the world’s greatest mind, faces his gravest challenge yet in the latest – and seemingly final – trailer for Inferno, the third chapter in Ron Howard’s Da Vinci Code series.

Primed to stage one final hurrah for the divisive franchise, it is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story alum Felicity Jones that will join forces with Tom Hanks’ returning symbologist as Dr. Sienna Brooks, who scramble across Europe together in order to stop an extinction-level event that harbors some connection to Dante’s nine circles of Hell.

A race against time and a protagonist struggling with an unreliable memory are among the clichéd tropes to feature in today’s new teaser, which really begs the question as to whether Inferno is a movie sequel audiences demanded in the first place. Alas, money talks, as is often the case, and thanks to the combined $1.2 billion of Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, we now arrive at this year’s apocalyptic thriller.

Also starring Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Ben Foster, and Sidse Babett Knudsen, Inferno premieres on October 28.

Inferno-Tom-Hanks

Ron Howard returns to direct the latest bestseller in Dan Brown’s (Da Vinci Code) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series, Inferno, which finds the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to stop a madman from unleashing a global virus that would wipe out half of the world’s population.
