Did anyone ask for a new King Arthur movie? Whether you did or not, Warner Bros. plans to release King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Guy Ritchie’s visionary take on the classic fable, this spring, and to help whet our appetite before the next trailer, EW has debuted several stills from the film, which you can check out above.

Starring Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) in the titular role, as well as Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) as Guinevere and Jude Law (HBO’s The Young Pope) as the villainous Vortigern, Legend of the Sword, naturally, promises not to be your dad’s King Arthur. Action packed, hyper-stylized and full of destruction and mayhem, the film’s summer release date promises a highly entertaining experience. Or at least, we hope it does, as many are still finding themselves scratching their head at the movie’s existence.

In addition to releasing the above photos, EW also spoke with Ritchie about the possibility of a Knights of the Round Table cinematic universe – don’t expect any surprises with his answer.

As much as anything, I enjoy the process of filmmaking. Going back to Sherlock was very fun. Going back into this would be great fun. I like the world. I like Charlie. I liked everyone I worked with. It’s just a world that I’d like to stay within for a while. It’s not like there aren’t enough stories to be told within the mythology of Arthur and all of the characters within it with Merlin, with the sword, with Guinevere, with Lancelot. There are lots of untapped narrative still to be dealt with.

We’ll have to wait until King Arthur: Legend of the Sword hits theaters before we jump to such conclusions, but for now, be sure to take a look at the gallery above and mark down May 12th, 2017 in your diaries, as that’s when this one will land.
