New Posters For The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies Tease Bilbo’s Ultimate Journey

It’s been almost a week since Warner Bros. released a fancy new poster for Peter Jackson’s upcoming trilogy-capper, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, causing us to think that the studio had suddenly lapsed into a world shortage. Thankfully, though, those promotional teases in question are back with a bang today, as New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have unveiled a bevy of fresh posters and banners.

Following up on the recent character stills, this latest batch of posters appear to touch upon the key themes within the threequel, including a somber Thorin Oakensheild along with Gandalf and Cate Blanchett’s Galadriel desperately stretching for one another. Elsewhere, the final poster sees a world-weary Biblio looking on with steely determination.

And by the looks of things, our clumsy protagonist will need every ounce of determination he can muster, with those aforementioned banner images teasing a battle across an almost unprecedented scale. In fact, the epic stills resemble scenes from The Lord of the Rings trilogy, as the forces of men, elves and dwarves must unite against Sauron’s oncoming army.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will arrive in cinemas on December 17th, 2014.

“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town. Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.
