To be honest, I’m not a fan of the TV series on which the flick is based, but I strangely find myself admiring this work for how truly ballsy it is. Really, to see how self-aware the picture is shows that somebody at Warner Bros. is willing to let the jabs at live action DC movies such as Green Lantern and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice slide.

But what may have people talking most is that Nicolas Cage has finally gotten to play Big Blue in some capacity. Having been originally cast as the Last Son of Krypton for Tim Burton’s ill-fated Superman Lives back in the 1990’s, it’s cool to see that he eventually landed a consolation prize in the form of voicing the Man of Steel here.

Also of note is the appearance of Will Arnett’s Deathstroke, who looks to be the chief antagonist. As expected, he’s referred to as simply “Slade,” thus keeping in continuity with both Teen Titans TV shows of the past two decades.

Teen Titans Go! To The Movies is set to open in theaters on July 27, 2018, and will be directed by Aaron Horvath and Peter Rida Michail, from a screenplay by Michael Jelenic and Horvath. Scott Menville (Robin), Greg Cipes (Beast Boy), Khary Payton (Cyborg), Tara Strong (Raven) and Hynden Walch (Starfire) star.
