Nicolas Winding Refn Says Ryan Gosling Will Join New Terrence Malick Film

Terrence Malick is quite busy these days. Considering the man only made five films from 1973 to 2011, it looks like he's trying to make up for lost time. After it was revealed earlier this week that Malick had nabbed Christian Bale for his next film, it looks like the director has snagged another star, Ryan Gosling.

Terrence Malick is quite busy these days. Considering the man only made five films from 1973 to 2011, it looks like he’s trying to make up for lost time. After it was revealed earlier this week that Malick had nabbed Christian Bale for his next film, it looks like the director has snagged another star, Ryan Gosling.

Making the press rounds for his new film Drive, director Nicolas Winding Refn told FSR that his upcoming film, Logan’s Run, which is set to star Gosling, may be delayed. The reason for the delay? So his leading man can squeeze in a Terrence Malick film.

There are no details yet on which Malick film it could be. Whether it’s The Burial, the Christian Bale project or something else entirely is unclear, but it seems that Malick has recruited the Canadian actor.

In other Nicolas Winding Refn news, the director has revealed that Logan’s Run may be delayed even further. It was supposed to be his next film after Only God Forgives, which once again stars Gosling, but he may want to squeeze something else in.

He said that he’s working on a film with Gosling’s Drive co-star, Carey Mulligan. There are no details on it yet but it may shoot after Only God Forgives, which would give Gosling time to do the Malick film.

Both Gosling an his go-to director have a very busy schedule ahead of them. Drive has created a ton of buzz and once it officially opens (on Sept. 16th), you can bet that Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn will be receiving a whole slew of new film offers, if they aren’t already.
