Adam McKay is going all out with Anchorman: The Legend Continues, or so it seems. As promised, he’s filling the cast with recognizable faces and it looks like he’s not intent on keeping any of the actors a secret. Every week we hear of a new name being added to the upcoming sequel and this week, we’re receiving news from The Hollywood Reporter that Nicole Kidman will be showing up in a small cameo.

So far, Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate and David Koechner are all returning in their roles from the last film, while Harrison Ford, John C. Reilly, Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Meagan Good, Josh Lawson, Greg Kinnear and Dylan Baker will show up in new roles.

Now we can throw Kidman onto that extensive list. The fun doesn’t stop there though. Reports are also surfacing that Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson, who both made brief appearances in the first film, will return as well for small roles.

That’s quite a cast and if McKay plays his cards right, it could all work out terrifically. Then again, with this many stars in one film, a lot can go wrong too. Besides, doesn’t the studio want to keep any surprises for when we see the film in theatres? Why ruin all the cameos now? Isn’t half the fun of a cameo the surprise element?

Either way, there will definitely be a lot of familiar faces to look out for once the film hits theatres, and hopefully it all works out. I hope McKay hasn’t gone too overboard and is able to use each actor effectively, rather than having them do a cameo just for the sake of making an appearance.

We’ll soon know whether or not Anchorman: The Legend Continues can deliver as it hits theatres on December 20th, 2013.
