New Trailer For Now You See Me Asks Us To Look Closer

2013 seems to be a good year for magicians, with The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, a decent satire of the industry starring Steve Carell and Jim Carrey that opened a few months ago, Gob Bluth making his return next month with the fourth season of Arrested Development and then Louis Leterrier's Now You See Me, which looks at what happens when magicians use their talents for criminal purposes.

2013 seems to be a good year for magicians. First we had The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, a decent satire of the industry starring Steve Carell and Jim Carrey that opened a few months ago. Next up we’ll see Gob Bluth making his return next month with the fourth season of Arrested Development and finally, there’s Louis Leterrier’s Now You See Me, which looks at what happens when magicians use their talents for criminal purposes.

Today, we have a new trailer for Leterrier’s film and I must say, this is one movie that continues to impress. It stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco as the Four Horsemen, a group of magicians who rob banks and give the cash to the audience members at their shows. Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman co-star and the film is set for a May 31st release.

As for the new trailer, it’s pretty similar to the first one but like I said, I’m still really impressed with what’s on display here. Visually, the film looks like it will be giving us some dazzling shots, with a few making their way into the trailer. There’s also some decent CG (maybe a bit too much) and effects work on display here, once again enforcing the fact that this will be a treat for the eyes.

The cast all look to be delivering solid performances and the plot is definitely intriguing. I just hope that they don’t convolute and muck things up too much so that it stops being believable and turns into something silly. Right now, that’s my only worry. From the trailer, it seems like there could be some sort of supernatural elements at play so perhaps that’s the direction they’re taking? Personally, I’d like to see the story more grounded in reality but for now, I remain optimistic.

Check out the trailer for Now You See Me below and let us know what you think in the comments.
