Director Matt Reeves has taken to Twitter today to reveal the official logo for upcoming simian threequel, War For the Planet of the Apes, all the while hinting that a brief teaser may hit the airwaves in tandem with AMC’s The Walking Dead this coming Sunday.

Before you get too excited, though, it’s worth keeping in mind that Reeves’ follow-up only entered production mid-October, which leads us to believe that the “special announcement” will be some form of a blink-and-you’ll miss it CG clip.

War For the Planet of the Apes is, after all, slated for a summer 2017 release, so it’s still too early in the production timeline to expect a full-length trailer. Nevertheless, a short overview clip featuring Andy Serkis’ glowering Caesar ought to be enough to stoke interest this far in advance.

Rubbing shoulders with Serkis for Matt Reeves’ feature is Judy Greer, reprising her role as Caesar’s romantic partner. Newcomers Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn boarded the cast quite recently, with the former enlisting to play a malevolent human villain known simply as being added to the cast as the Colonel. Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, and Kodi Smit-McPhee round out the casting list thus far.

War for the Planet of the Apes is due to hit on July 14, 2017. In order to get a glimpse of the “special announcement” that Reeves is referring to, you can tune into Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead when it airs on at 9pm ET on AMC.
