Back in February, news broke that Paul Bettany, who voices Tony Stark’s AI pal JARVIS, had been cast as The Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. For those unfamiliar with the character, the Vision is a synthetic humanoid created by the villainous Ultron, who eventually betrays his master and joins the Avengers.

The actor’s next film to hit theaters will be Transcendence, and while on the promotional tour he stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! and was asked about his role in Joss Whedon’s upcoming Avengers sequel. Though he isn’t allowed to reveal much, Bettany does reflect on what it was like going from voicing JARVIS to playing an actual physical character on screen, humorously saying:

“It’s very exciting for me, but everything’s a double-edged sword because I was playing JARVIS for years. My job was, I would turn up at a recording studio for 45 minutes, do all my stuff, they would give me a huge bag of cash, and then I would go home. Now, it turns out they’ve found me out and they want me to actually, ya know, do something. It’s not right!

In the comic books, Vision has a multitude of abilities that include invulnerability, mass control, molecular disruption, flight, solar energy projection, computer network interfacing, superhuman strength and regeneration. When asked about which powers the character might have in the film, Bettany said:

“Oh, I can do all sorts of things. But I’m not allowed to really talk about them and what we’re going to do because there might be a Marvel agent in the room who will actually wrestle me to the ground. And fire me!”

Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters on May 1st, 2015. Tell us, are you excited to see Bettany as The Vision? Sound off below!
